1972 Gibson Les Paul Custom 'Black Beauty' Ebony

A rough and ready, three-pickup rock 'n' roll machine!

Always super cool to see a 3-pickup Les Paul Custom 'Black Beauty' come onto the market! Based off specifications, serial number, and dates on the original (now since replaced) pots, this example dates to 1972. These were offered as a three-pickup model between 1971 and 1973, until being reintroduced briefly around 1978-1979. Has the neck volute with a narrow 38mm nut width, original T-Top humbuckers and what appears to be the original frets.

This particular example has had a few modifications throughout. Specifically, it has had the pots replaced, output jack replaced, output jack plate replaced, a neck break repair and replaced tuners. (Suspected modifications - maybe a refin on the back of the headstock, possible neck reset). In the case, the original potentiometers and output jack are present, however seem fairly far gone at this stage and potentially non-functional.

All pickups function perfectly and sound as good as early '70s t-tops get. Hardware and electronics are fully functional, and plays excellently with a low action. Includes an aftermarket hard shell case.
